What does it mean to truly plan for a better life? Over the
past two days, I could arguably say I found out. During our time around the municipalities,
house after house had sketched out pictures hanging on display- illustrating
their current living situation as well as an illustration titled future,
displaying a more improved and even environmentally friendly living situation
for the family. It was truly inspiring to say the least, to see families with
so little so extremely excited to do whatever they could to improve their
quality of life while using the environment in a sustainable way.
Once again, this brings me back to sustainability within La
Paz. Being in these communities provided vivid illustrations of just how simple
it was to live sustainably. But if it’s so simple, why isn’t President Morales
implementing this life style in La Paz? The impact of climate change on the
individuals living within the Campo is apparent with every look. As they are
living in some of the harshest conditions that I’ve even seen, they are still
trying to make a better sustainable life not only for themselves and their
families but their whole community as well. Maybe if Present Morales came to
visit these individuals so desperately yearning for his help, he would realize
how important sustainability truly is. But I guess we’ll just have to wait
until that day comes.
